The devastation of Hurricane Maria to the island of Dominica has been well documented, including comments from the Prime Minister Roosevelt Skerrit:
So far, the winds have swept away the roofs of almost every person I have spoken to or otherwise made contact with. The roof to my own official residence was among the first to go and this apparently triggered an avalanche of torn away roofs in the city and the countryside.
And with the devastation it would have been understandable for the Citizenship by Investment Unit to have some delays, but the Prime Minister has held a press conference to ensure all that the CIU is back to normal and continuing to process applications.
In addition, Range Developments, the builder of the Cabrits Kempinski Resort in Dominica (an approved real estate project under the CBI programme) has released an update:
The directors and staff of Range Developments wish to express their support and solidarity with the people of Dominica in the wake of Hurricane Maria. Its own development, the Cabrits Resort Kempinski Dominica, situated on the north shore of the island near Portsmouth and still under construction, stood firm as the hurricane passed through. Range Developments is committed to resuming work on the Cabrits Resort Kempinski imminently, as soon as the supply chains restart.
The developers have been very lucky that they have had minimal damage to the site and that there will be only minor delays in construction.
